The Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario (VCAO) Program provides crisis intervention services to victims of crime and tragic circumstances 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Services offered through the VCAO program include:Safety planning Referrals to appropriate community supports and servicesNeeds assessments and customized service plansAssisting eligible victims with emergency transportation to a safe locationCrime-scene cleanup; funeral expenses; emergency home repairsCounselingEnhanced support for vulnerable victims
We provide assistance to victims of crime or tragedy including but not limited to: assault, domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, hate crime, property crime, robbery, theft, family members affected by sudden death from accident, suicide, or homicide.
The Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP) provides immediate financial assistance to victims of violent crime such as Homicide Serious assault Domestic violence Sexual assault Human trafficking (enhanced services and eligibility) Hate crimes
Through this program, eligible victims, witnesses & their families can access the following services: Emergency safety expenses and home repairs Emergency accommodation and meals Emergency personal care items Funeral expenses Counseling Services and programming
A victim is eligible for services if he/she has reported a violent Criminal Code offence to a Police Service in the Province of Ontario or a Hospital, Domestic Violence Shelter, Sexual Assault Centre or other community agency in the Province of Ontario.
Thunder Bay and Area Victim Services is designated to provide victims with access to the VQRP program.
